For the past 35 years, Miami-based DMR has been a leading national and international provider of complex custom wheelchairs to individuals with neurological conditions. In addition to superior wheelchairs, DMR also provides home modifications, rehabilitation equipment, vehicle modifications and removable lifts that are designed, installed and maintained by highly skilled DMR technicians.
Every DMR wheelchair is custom made for each individual client based on a thorough onsite evaluation by the company’s highly trained staff. Leading the DMR team is licensed therapist Ari Tamari, who also is an assistive technology professional (ATP) – a designation required by Medicare in order to provide complex custom wheelchairs (Group 3). When delivered, each high-tech wheelchair receives an individualized fitting, adjustments and programming to meet the client’s medical needs and maximize function and independence.
At its Doral headquarters, DMR offers a complete showroom and service department where clients can have their wheelchairs fine-tuned and maintained to peak performance. The concierge department is happy to assist with transportation for clients to the showroom, airport and hotels as well as assist with locating accessible accommodations and arranging doctor’s appointments, dining, shopping and sightseeing while in Miami.
Among the many governmental and private citizen clients of DMR is Sabrina Cohen, founder and president of the Sabrina Cohen Foundation. Cohen chose DMR in 1992 to design and create her complex custom wheelchair. Today, the function and independence her wheelchair provides has enabled her to provide access to fitness and recreation opportunities to all people, regardless of physical ability, in a safe and welcoming environment in Miami Beach.
DMR has been certified by the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), meeting the organization’s stringent standards and adhering to its Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
Sabrina Cohen’s complex custom wheelchair, created by DMR Corporation, enables her to help people with disabilities enjoy life to their fullest capability.
